Healthy Mother & Child Project in Ellembelle

The main goal of the ENI Healthy Mother and Child Project was to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health respectively, as a support to Healthcare Authority actions to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in particular goals 4 and 5.

The ENI Healthy Mother and Child Project’s main activities included construction and revamping of health centers and CHPs, provision and installation of equipment, Training & IE&C, Supervision and Monitoring.

Fully constructed, revamped and equipped:

  • 10 health Centres
  • 2 hospitals
  • 4 new CHPs
  • 1 operating Theatre
  • 1 Accident and Emergency Centre
  • 1 Maternity Block

Pro-Link built the capacity of 382 Health Providers in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) issues, community mobilization, gender issues and provision of user friendly services.

Pro-Link also developed SBCC print materials and distributed to over 12,000 community members and 27 Health Facilities in the three districts; mounted 9 billboards on skilled delivery, use of herbs, and teenage pregnancy.

Pro- Link directed and developed SBCC campaigns – 6 radio jingles in Nzema and Fante on Nutrition, Use of Herbs and Skilled Delivery, which is being aired in over 80 communities in the three districts.
